This is a project that I had worked on not too long ago. This was an interesting one, I had to use Flash per the clients request for the intro, I enjoy working in Flash but am well aware of it’s bandwidth hungry habbits. The other challenging aspect of this project was the amount of critics I had to submit it to. The ICV program involves students and teachers from Chico State, Germany and France, so this website had to appeal to multiple parties with varying cultural backgrounds. At one point it was “too American”.
The majority of the images used in the site were taken on site in Germany and France which I thought would be a cool idea for those from the States who want to see what locations they would be able to visit via the ICV.
The actual guts of the site is pretty straight-forward, xHTML & Css, light-weight and browser friendly
You can check out the live site here.
Along with the clown picture that I posted a few days ago, there were a couple other doodles that I had done in that very same bout of boredom. I was actually doing security for the Silver Dollar Fair in one of the art buildings and during the slow hours, I had nothing much to do other than draw on the back of old submission stubs..
These are generally my favorite types of drawing, the ones where I just start drawing lines and make it up as I go. I usually don’t go any farther with simple doodles like this but I decided to try something new this time and threw these guys into Photoshop and make somethin’ happen..
Both of these were sketched with a pen, inked with Illustrator and colored in Photoshop. I decided to color them without using my Wacom tablet just to try coloring with a mouse. I like the way each of them came out.
This is a poster I did for the Associated Students Career Faire last year. It was a commission piece done for extra credit (Woot!). Aside from the “Win an iPod” sunburst icon and the little page flip in the bottom right corner, I was given free reign on the actual design of the poster so it was a pretty fun little project. The layout itself was drawn out a view times on graph paper to get the text proportions the way I wanted them before polishin’ it up with Photoshop.
So I have decided to scrap building a web site of my own for now in lieu of using a pre-built framework. It’s hard building a format that will act as a professional portfolio as well as a personal web page to just post your musings and such, so I decided to give Wordpress a shot, so far I like it.
The plan is to use this blog to post my past and future art, web, design and photography projects as well as doodles, thoughts, news etc. I was considering using a Vox or Blogger page to facilitate this idea but with my own domain and all I figured just installing WP would be the most straight-forward way to approach this. In the future I hope to put together my own theme and customize the crap out of this page! But one step at a time.
Hello world!
